Audio Compression

To save disk space the software allows to compress the recordings by using WAV-files with different audio codecs. Depending on the codec the resulting file size can be as small as one tenth of the original size (mono).

The ISDN codec (G.711) uses 128 kbits/s for a dual-channel recording. A compressed stereo WAV-file has 24 kbits/s and a compressed mono WAV-file has 8 kbits/s (low quality) or 13 kbits/s (higher quality).
